- how many payments per year do we have? (two as far as I can make out)

As many as you want. Paypal is set up to do a monthly or yearly payment or you can make a one off donation.

- why do we have to pay for the domain name yearly? I don't. Is there a better option?

The domain name is paid for in June and I am trying to get a cheaper deal by going long term.

The hosting is paid yearly and is due for renewal in January. Again, closer to the time I could try and reduce it.

- are costs likely to rise? If yes, under what circumstances?

In theory no, if anything they will reduce.

- can be have a 'book keeper' - must be an easy set of books to keep - to keeps us
informed - for example what cost approximately 35 pounds?

As payments are paid via Paypal they take a percentage of all donations & subscriptions. For example.

£3.00 - 30p Paypal = £2.70
£5.00 - 37p Paypal = £4.63
£10.00 - 54p Paypal = £9.46
£20.00 - 88p Paypal = £19.11

- what rights / privileges might subscribers have over non- contributors?

This would be for the forum to decide on. You could have a subscribers only area although that may include people you don't like!

- would any rights conferred drive away non-contributors? Would we want that?

It probably would drive people away but then a lot of websites and forums do this to attract an income to pay towards the costs of running the forum.

If anyone else has anymore views then please post them!

Subscrition to the Forum.

Postby ArsenalMill » Mon Jun 17, 2013 1:11 pm

I would be happy to subcribe to an extent, however I prefer the donation model tbh. It just feels less demanding and more welcoming.

The other option is to increase the amount of ads to increase revenue that way as the site has a decent amount of traffic i woulf pressume...

Steve, how should I understand the information about the current money situation. Are we all right now until June 2014?

Been a bad week for me too. £700 on a gearbox repair because warranty wouldn't cover it!! Now £260 for tax. Anybody would of thought I drove a Ferrari for that price but I still see f**king potholes everywhere!

Subscrition to the Forum.

Bump! People can I remind you that the forum costs money, to run. Please donate to keep it running. You will see that there is a shortfall of approx. £60. If everybody gave a little, we could bridge that gap. I have been a culprit this year, because, I resent the fact that some do not contribute, yet enjoy being on here at my expense, and, that of other contributors. However, I want this forum to keep going, so, I'll overcome that resentment, and, pay up again. Who will join me?

If everybody gave a quid every year, we would have no problem. Well done monkey. I paid up for this year.

yep i agree, GP. As you said if every poster donated a £1.00 the forum would be financially sound, not being a internet techi, I don't know how if would effect the forum and numbers, if Steve could set up a sort of subscription fee, So when you log in, you are told to donate at least a £1.00 or more, before you can post on the forum.

Not sure if it would be successful, or forum members would leave and join other like minded Arsenal Forums.

So as I gave a tenner last year does that put me in for the duration.

We are so near, yet so far away from our target. Come on people, especially those who have not contributed. A little goes a long way.
