Usmanov makes his move

Postby Tenbob » Fri May 19, 2017 6:09 pm

Sky reports that Usmanov has bid 1billion for the yanks shares.
Could be the move we need to shake the club up.
“ Arsenal come streaming forward now in surely what will be their last attack. A good ball by Dixon, finding Smith, for Thomas, charging through the midfield. Thomas, it's up for grabs now! Thomas! ”

apparently the wigged American hasn't said yes or no in the two weeks since the offer was made. Lawyers drawing up contracts? I think it's safe to assume that the Ruskie will be far more proactive. Did I read he is now Britain's richest man? Will he bring Dean with him?

Could explain Wenger's coyness on his situation

St Louis are suing Kroenke for an estimated 1 billion dollars damages for moving the Rams from There to Los Angeles . Perhaps Usmanov feels that a large fine going his way and is offering a way to pay it.

If it went through would it mean out of the frying pan into the fire?

We don't really know but something got to change , I get the impression he Usmanov puts success before financial gain and would be more demanding on the manager and players.
But would he then bankroll it ?
I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt on it and hopefully really compete with the top elite teams in Europe.
It certainly not going to happen under the yank.

We are probably not going to find out Kronk has turned down the offer

But if the next one comes with the caveat that Usmanov will not only buy the shares but heavily invest in the team , it pushes Kroenke into a corner and deflects the ire from Wenger.

Usmanov makes his move

Postby NickF » Sat May 20, 2017 11:27 am

As late as April Usmanov was backing Wenger and even said he should pick his own successor.

It is strange that the bid was made a few weeks ago but it was only made public just before our last home games, is this an attempt to deflect attention away from Wenger?

For me, we need a new owner AND a new manager as I don't really see Usmanov/Wenger being any more successsful than Kroenke/Wenger. Our problems are on the pitch.

Perhaps the structural changes being discussed go right to the top? Gazidis bows out, Dein in along with a Tech Director and AW to have one last hurrah but with adequate support.

I couldn't hear the rest of the stadium but the North Bank was loud in wanting Kroenke out , interesting that those that have not called for Wenger to go were joining in on this one.

Maybe but we've tried the one people wanted last time because he had a 'history in sports' and look how that turned out.

Time to jump into the unknown and the known has been a complete let down.

Usmanov is full of the brown stuff. If he really wanted to buy the club he would, and he certainly could make an offer that Kroenke couldn't turn down.

Sorry I think that is very unfair Denten.
I love KFC (I think this is a fair comparison when comparing my financial power with Usmanovs) and I live in a place where the nearest one is about 1 and a half hours away so don't usual get to have it.
Would I pay over the odds to get it, maybe, like I said I love them and its very rare I have one.
But there will come a point where I wouldn't spend the money just to have one. Whether I could afford to or not isn't the point.
He is a business man and he will have a much more acute idea of value over dreaming than me but I still wouldn't be willing to pay so much over the odds just to own something.

Games up as far as Usmanov is concerned I am afraid. Probably the Untold boys have sold up to keep the status quo and the manager.
