Arsenal have confirmed that the capacity of Emirates Stadium will increase to 60,600 as the club adds 780 extra seats.

The capacity of the arena has dropped below 60,000 since it opened in July 2016 due to safety requirements and improvements to facilities for disabled supporters.

The work is set to take place over the course of the next two summers and will involve adding an additional row of seating to Club Level.

Alongside this work, Arsenal have also confirmed refurbishment to additional areas of Club Level over the next two years. The first upgrade will be to Dial Square in the summer of 2018, which will see the area transformed to celebrate the club’s original name of Dial Square Football Club.

Speaking about the construction work, Chief Commercial Officer Vinai Venkatesham said:

“The development of Club Level is crucial to ensuring fan experience at games is at its best whilst also enabling us to stay at the forefront of stadium hospitality.

Dear Sir,

Today we have announced that we will be developing and renovating areas of Club Level at Emirates Stadium over the next two years to help bring our capacity back in line with our original figure from 2006. Our capacity has been reduced in recent seasons due to safety requirements and improvements to facilities for disabled supporters.

From May 2018, we will begin work on adding an additional row to the front of Club Level from Block 56 to Block 77. Work on the rest of the stadium will start in May 2019. When complete, approximately 780 seats will have been added to Club Level taking our capacity to just over 60,600.

As a member whose seat is at, or towards, the back of the block, we realise you have been unable to see, or have had an obstructed view of the big screens since Emirates Stadium opened. The planned works to the Club Level tier has given us the opportunity to install new 40” HD screens above your eye line that will mirror the images shown on the big screens before, throughout and after the game. The work will begin in the area above Block 12 (Lower Tier), going clock wise round to Block 27 in the summer of 2018, with the remaining work finishing during the summer of 2019 ready for the start of the 2019/20 season. We believe this will enhance your matchday experience. To reassure you, there is no action you need to take. As a valued supporter of the Club we wanted to keep you fully informed of the planned development works over the next two years and will continue to as things progress.

These are the latest developments in a programme of work since moving to Emirates Stadium in 2006 to improve matchday facilities for all supporters. This includes the 'Legends Together' stadium wrap, statues of club legends, introduction of a fan information team on matchdays and refurbishment of our box offices and club stores. This summer we have also built a new sensory room and improved our disabled supporters’ seating and access to the stadium.

Thank you for your continued support.
