WengerOUT - whoIN?

Postby I Believe Overall » Mon Feb 26, 2018 7:34 pm

I’m not a great watcher of top level football outside of Arsenal so not in a good position to know who might be able to come in next.

What does everyone think? Who would be on the shortlist?

premier League? Dyche, Howe, Conte?
Ex players who have experience? Not sure any are out there right now?
Outside of them who else might be in the frame?

Anchelotti or a complete change of character in Simione

I completely and unwaveringly love Thierry Henry but please, not as our manager! We can't make the next appointment based on sentiment or optimism. Who's the bloke from Juve who was linked with us last year? He'll do. Whoever comes in, he will have to coach defensive tactics.

I think Allegri waited until Arsenal re appointed Wenger and then signed a deal with Juve. That was the last contract, the one before a similar thing happened with Guardiola . Remember how Wenger sideswiped the Gazidis part of the board by going to Kroenke and signing on before the meeting took place . He is a better politician than manager now and he knows how to keep his money rolling in. He won't go until he gets a great deal to make it worth his while. So he will still be here next season and possibly a few after.

I heard someone on the radio 5 say that a poll of Arsenal supporters made Rogers favourite. Well they didn't ask me or you for that matter.

I can't believe that some people think Rogers is the best option.

Loew would be an option but if he really wants to manage a club he will go to Munich as they are
also looking for a manager.

For me Allegri would be 1st choice, doing great at Juve.

I'm not convinced by former players like Henry or Arteta,
I think a big club like Arsenal with massive problems need a very experienced manager.

It's a question that's difficult to answer. Arteta has to be a joke though.

I'd go for anyone who plays a high tempo, aggressive game. Rogers does high tempo but Simeone does both very well. I wouldn't go for a successful international manager as it's too far removed from both English and European club footy.

Simeone or Conte ? Maybe Rogers or Dyce if were gonna gamble. Maybe a young, inexperienced German club manager out of leftfield ?

Simeone is good but he looks more like a Mafia hitman than a football manager. I don`t like the way Conte goes berserk when his team scores it might be alright for the Chelsea hippies but the Arsenal crowd have too much decorum for that sort of thing. Sean Dyche has done a fantastic job for Burnley but Burnley and Arsenal are two different things and going from a small town club to one of the giants of world football might be a step too far. The same goes for Eddie Howe of Bournemouth who has also been mentioned as our new manager he is a very personable guy and has done a great job at Bournemouth but would Arsenal be beyond him?

WengerOUT - whoIN?

To be honest I wouldn't be too fussed who it was as it is much easier to replace a manager after a season than it is after 20+ years.
I would probably go for someone like Ancelotti for a year or two just to steady the ship.

I would prefer the likes of Henry and Arteta to learn first (even as a second to someone) before being given the job.
I have seen Leonardo Jardim from Monaco mentioned but would confess I do not know too much about him.

Someone summed it up by saying 'as the heat increases on Wenger, so does my interest'.

WengerOUT - whoIN?

Postby Thynker » Thu Mar 01, 2018 8:46 pm

I remember people like Owen Coyle being suggested when he was at Bolton.
Is Sean Dyche the new Owen Coyle. Can he deliver trophies at the top level?

What exactly is Bould's role? He should know defending inside out. He should resign if he is not being allowed to coach defending.

Wenger cannot be allowed to leave without there being a worthy candidate to replace him.

Ancelloti would be a safe pair of hands but I can't see anything happening before the seasons end.

Worthy candidate? Wenger is clueless, anybody, and I mean anybody, is better than him right now. I said this before and I'll say it again, wenger is very capable of making messi look mediocre. Get him out

Anybody ? That's crazy talk, and precisely the mentality we don't need at this time while considering the direction The Club are looking to go in. With suggestions like that things can only go from bad to worse.

Wenger was very composed in the post-match conference. It is impressive.
