Wilshere Contract

Postby ArsenalMill » Mon Mar 19, 2018 2:48 pm

Why is Wenger offering £90,000 when his current contract is £110,000 ?

I can't blame Wilshere for not signing, he's currently one of the best players on the pitch and the management at the club are basically trying to take the piss out of him.

If Wilshere goes on a free in July Wenger MUST explain why this happened especially when we have below pay players like Elneny and players that will realistically never play again in Cazorla earning wages without any significant input.

Fed up that Wenger allowed 3 Key Players to run down their contracts, we've already lost one, and IMO a 66% loss rate is not acceptable.

I actually agree with the new contract we are supposedly offering - I'm sick of giving injured players long contracts and getting stuck with them. Granted he has been one of our best performers (is that hard though with our current squad?) this season but what for, 15-20games? If he loved the club as much as he says he'd sign. 90k a week basic + a lot of add on's when fit? I'd bite your hand off for some of that!

I think we are going to see a big change in the way we operate with the new guy from Barca and the scout from Dortmund.

I would at least pay him what he's on now as when fit he makes the team tick and is a bigger influence than Ozil,Ramsey or any higher earning players.
If he goes on a free it's just criminal and makes no sense.
Still get the impression that Wenger doesn't rate him as highly as others do.

If they DON'T want him then it would appear the smart thing to do would be sign him on a long term contract and then sell him. There'd be plenty of takers and the fee would be half decent. Agreed btw, if he walks on a free then it's terrible.

I still struggle with the handling of Ashley Cole. One of the best full-backs EVER !, let alone that The Arsenal ever had, who wanted to stay. The Club offered him far below what he was worth. Shocking stuff from whoever made that call. Such a good player. Was it Arsene ?

I haven`t any insider knowledge but I think David Dein might have had something to do with it

The story that I heard was that Dein offered him a deal and it was all but signed up but just before he nearly crashed his car , he found out that Fiszman had changed the terms and reduced it by 5 grand a week. As we now know at the time anything that was left to those two would be the source of acrimony .There are a lot of stories about that time whether true or false who knows ??
However some certainly seem to hold water.

I can't make my mind up about this player. If in doubt.......
