We move on to Chelsea away so it's not getting any easier yet.
Whatever you think of the City game this could be as bad if the usual suspects don't turn up again.
For me the way Emery wants us to play you can't have passengers and I would drop Ozil,Mickey,Xhaka,Ramsey
Replace with Iwobi,The mighty Midget, and Lacazette.
Bring Leichestein in at right back with Bellerin moved into midfield stopping the Hazard influence .
Would like to drop Czech but don't know enough about the new keeper to be confident.
We will know a lot more after this one finishes.
“ Arsenal come streaming forward now in surely what will be their last attack. A good ball by Dixon, finding Smith, for Thomas, charging through the midfield. Thomas, it's up for grabs now! Thomas! ”

I would sell Xhaka before the window closes in Europe on the 31st August what AW saw in him and what Emery sees in him I don`t know. I would replace him with Elneny. I would also tell Ramsey he either signs or gets sold by the end of the month abroad or in January to a Premiership club.

There are several players that dont seem to fit Emery's style.

Cech, Xhaka, Ozil, Miki to name a few.

Add to that Ramsey and Wellbeck. who either need to sign or be shipped off.

Also Jenks, Campbell and Ospina.

Could be a busy time........

Shambolic defending so far.
Chelsea have a new manager.

I don't like this high pressing (which Im not really seeing anyway). It's normally used by those who don't know how to set up a defence.

Bulletin will never be a top fullback.

Guendouzi looks like the experienced player on the field, not the youngest

Though we've been poor at the back, they are extremely vulnerable at the Luiz/Alonso gap and we have missed four chances that should have been scored from right in front of goal.
None even hit the target.

This Chelsea team are there to be beaten... may not be so easy later in the season.

This is the team that should have started IMO, though I'd probably have had Lichtsteiner in for Bellerin.

I like Torreira already.

What's Monreal doing helping Pedro with his cramp? He has plenty of teammates for that

Don`t understand what is going on, under the cosh for the first 30 minutes then for the next 15 minutes played like Barcelona scored two goals and missed three sitters. The second half we barely got out of our own half and it was just a question of time before Chelsea scored. I think the planes and banners will be back on Saturday

We could have won this game by half-time if we would have taken our chances.
The defence looks terrible, can not see any improvements there
When Kos is back he should play with one of the young CBs, can't be worse
The 3rd goal goes on Lacazette,
First he is playing a poor pass to the back,
Then he is not covering the Chelsea player on the wing, very poor
Looks like a lot of work for Emery.
The young Frenchman looks good,
He should start with the Uru,
Xhaka doesn't get it.
I think Iwobi played a good match.
Unfortunately this rebuild of the squad will take a long time, more than one season,
We need to be patient.

No quick fix , but I still believe he has to look at his players and form a system to utilise his best ones . If it means dropping high profile players so be it. None of them especially the ones that had stinkers today should feel their position is safe . Xhaka , Ozil , Ramsey and even Aubameyang and Mickhitarian I am looking at you

If we play Aub up front we need to play Miki behind him - it worked for Dortmond. But Auba best position seems to be from the left - well it worked for TH14....

I actually thought bar the few mistakes that we looked improved yesterday. Torreira has to start, Monreal played well, Sokratis wasn't that bad -

Next week I'd drop Mustafi and Bellerin.

Cech
Lich, Sokatris, Other Greek one, Monreal
Torreira, Guen
Miki, Ramsey, Auba
Lacazette

Would also like to see Smith Rowe on the bench.
me neither

The playing from the back is a nervy thing and Cech is clearly not tuned in to it. Worth giving Leno the chance to see if this philosophy works. I had hoped the defence would have been worked on pre-season and sadly it seems the same old vulnerability with far too many open spaces for the opposition to get access in to. For me the raving about the French teenager(can’t spell his name) is misplaced. There were numerous times last evening when he was nowhere near an opponent giving them licence to pass through us.

I hope the Coach is taking all this in and will quickly sort out the obvious failings and take no prisoners- no player is too big to get a rollicking! If he doesn’t he will be soon on the plane back to Spain and we will end up with a temporary specialist to safeguard our PL status for this season.

Yes he needs time but why he hasn’t stopped the ease with which we ship goals is hugely disappointing

Because he knows nothing about defending...

All these managers who just want to press, do so because they haven't a nption how to play defensively.

City are a good example. They get away with it as did Barcelona because they were so good going forward.

Victor Valdes was shit.
Dani Alves didn't know a thing about being a proper full back.

Don't be expecting any great back 5 from Emery. Not gonna happen.
Torreira will help though as will dropping Xhaka and Ozil.
