Where now for Theo?

Has to play on Sunday surely but going forward it just seems that Wenger may be super cautious with him or worse, he may be doubting he's really ready.

Could be seen as no more than a squad player ? Or worse, surplus to requirements

Can`t agree with you there old chap Theo is an excellent player whose pace frightens most defences.

It's not my opinion on the matter, RR, I'm just saying what I think could be possible when I look at the numerous strong technical players that we have filling our squad at the moment. Given that Wenger loves a technical player (a couple of whom have pace as well), I struggle to see who to drop in order to make Theo a guaranteed first teamer.

Does your first eleven have Theo in it ?

If I was Arsenal`s Manager the following would normally be my first choice team although depending on the opponents I may make changes.

Szczesny

Debuchy
Mertesacker
Koscielny
Gibbs

Coquelin

Walcott
Ramsey
Cazorla
Sanchez

Giroud

Obviously during the season players like Ozil,Wilshere,Ox etc would have parts to play. What would be your first choice?

Was thinking about this today, now we got Coquelin who is at least built to do this role it changes how I would set up now.

I would go 433

Ospina

Debuchy
Mertersacker
Koscienly
Gibbs

Coquelin
Ozil
Cazorla (or Ramsey)

Walcott
Giroud
Sanchez

Coquelin has good energy and a bit of muscle so don't think we need 2 holding players as such, would play Ozil and Cazorla ahead of him and hope they can replicate the way Xavi and Iniesta used to dominate that area without being massively built.

This team has always been one genuine DM away from being able to play this way, unfortunately we've never had one good enough (recently) so have had to double up.

Ozil as an automatic first choice ahead of Cazorla and Ramsay ? That's interesting and probably uncommon amongst Gooners I'd imagine.

Goalkeeper I'm unsure of. Based on what I've seen of Bellerin I don't see him as hugely inferior to Debuchy. I'd love to replace Per as first choice but as we have no one else really he'd have to be in there. As I've said about the RBs, based on his last outing Monreal did himself a big favour with such a good show so, as it stands, I'm struggling to decide. the only other difficulty is the choice between Ox or Theo on the right. I love Theo's pace and his finishing when he's on form, but Ox seems to cover more ground to me, is quicker than most, is technically better, can shoot cross AND go past players.
Based on the last performance, and the fact that it has been our best for some time, I'd pick the very same eleven that beat City and make the sub's fight for a place. With one additional CB, I think we have a top quality squad. Good mixture of youth and experience.

Smiles all round :D

Walcott is devastating when he has about 2 months of matches behind him after an injury - now if he could stop getting injured, that would be interesting - but I'm afraid he isn't built to last.

I'd have him as 1st choice if/when he goes on a run without injury. Until then the OX beats him to the 1st team.

Pretty sure he came back from injury last season and hit the ground running in the short spell that he was fit for.

I reckon he has to do something against Brighton or he will end up being a super sub for the rest of the season as there ain't may games to ease him in now that it's coming to an important time, can't really carry anyone now.

If anything he is going backwards only so long you can use the injury problems as an excuse he just doesn't seem to care comes on and shows so little effort.
