he remind me of Big Tone this season, in the way he carries himself - and at the moment we are lucky to have 3 class CB. Still wish Wenger would buy an experience keeper.

Buffon please, i'm sure Mannone and Sczchesny could learn so much

Does this go some way to proving that he was no 'panic buy' by AW ??????????

i think every gooner knew he was class, and alot of gooners were tipping him to join us before he did, but he did struggle a bit last season, who can forget chelsea when he was too easily muscled out of it

but he has shown in time, that cream does rise to the top

To much listening to so called experts who in reality only watch highlights of a match or pick up on little mistakes and blow them out of proportion

i'm still convinced it's because of how big and lumbersome he looks.

he looks slow and clumsy but he is always in the right place when it matters and his timing in the tackle is superb. love him.

Today was the first time I can recall a commanding performance from him. His anticipation and positioning were world class and he kept some very good forwards quiet. More of the same please.

Definitely not, whatever way you dress it up he was signed at the last minute after an 8 2 thumping, had he been signed at the start of the Summer then you would have a point to argue, how he is playing now makes no difference to the circumstances he was signed in.

On to this season, he has been first class, doesn't deserve to be dropped that's for sure.

He didn't have to as Suarez is shit. He had a difficult set of forwards to deal with who are far better.

He's definitely improved this season.

Still not as dominant in the air as a man of his size should be
Wenger out!!

Agreed, I don't know how some people keep slagging him off. For me his reading of the game is impeccable. Kos and the BFG is my first choice pairing in defence.

I don't think he was a panic buy at all, due to the rumour that the deal was being lined up months before he actually joined . Although you obviously KNOW that he was

And I would be happy for either three of our centre backs to start for us.

I have criticised Mertesacker in the past because of his non-pace but admit he was excellent yesterday and he seems to have improved since lat season.I still think Koscielny is our best defender but it appears AW sees Mertesacker and Vermaelen as his first choice.
