FA CUP FINAL

It`s amazing how the Cup Final has been downgraded. At one time winning the Final was more important than winning the old 1st Division. Up to yesterday there has been hardly anything in the papers or TV. Shame really!

With so much football on tv now there's no novelty in watching a live match now .
It was one of the only games that as live all season years ago.
No build up anymore, it's just another game on the telly.
Saying that City were magnificent today.
“ Arsenal come streaming forward now in surely what will be their last attack. A good ball by Dixon, finding Smith, for Thomas, charging through the midfield. Thomas, it's up for grabs now! Thomas! ”

As a kid I loved Cup Final day. Get my chores done early, then sit down and watch the build up. It's A Knockout, with the fans of the participating teams competing against each other, the coach journey to Wembley and the singing of Abide With Me.

Those days along with so much that made football special have gone I am afraid. Television has taken away the uniqueness of the day. I can remember being in Morocco in the late 60's and the cup final was showed in the local cinema and the people of the village packed it out . Now a football match being televised is ten a penny.
The City treble means nothing now , when we were kids a double such as the one in 61 and then 71 were rareities , now money rules the roost . Football in the purest form takes a back seat , the best players go for the best money and win the trophies QED.
"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth."

It would be foolish to think otherwise
