Carte Blanche....

After watching AW just sitting there yesterday,my seat is near enough directly behind him,he never once jumped up and remonstrated with the players or shout any instructions, not that I saw anyhow.

When I got home I read that he said "he had no idea why we all went flying forward leaving Monreal on his own" and I rightly or wrongly came to the conclusion that he gives the player the complete freedom of the park and lets them get on with it.

If true then what a great bloke to work for and what a great show of faith in his team.

I also sat and watch us get mullered on our right against Swansea and again he nor the players rectified the problem.

Have the players carte Blanche?

Specialists in FA cup wins.Enjoy the moments.

Carte Blanche.. The freedom to do whatever one wishes. Carte Blanche..The freedom to be unaccountable,
Carte Blanche.. The freedom to work without instruction and have no repercussions for their actions.

Sounds about right.

It would be foolish to think otherwise

He would be a great bloke to work for at Royal Mail or Sainsbury's but not as a manager of a football club on 8m a year when people play up to £1400. a season to watch, if true, great guy, no manager, give his 8m a year to a nasty guy that manages the team and gets better results.

I have always assumed that he gives clear direction in the days before a game. That, and the blueprint of the Arsenal way which the players are inducted into and expected to demonstrate on the pitch. Then trust them to get on with it.

What I don't get is that he doesn't always pace the technical area when they are going off plan. That has to be a powerful signal to the players on the pitch.

BTW Denten, an article I read today had him up and pacing more nervously than usual during the game. ????

Must admit that's how I've always thought Wenger did it.

It's not working at the moment though.

There's none so blind as those who will not see.

Do not argue with an idiot they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Don't dispute that RR. In my memory palace though there is a link between the result - lose game - and him not shifting from the bench at key moments / phases during the game.

It appears to have the effect of a 'signalling devise' to the players.

I think Frisky's first sentence is right. H too when you say it isn't working. It's a tried and tested approach that I think leads to creating a stronger team ethic if it's taken on board by the players and they are intelligent enough. However, it only takes one or two to lack the intelligence needed to make it a success. That is our problem imo.

Perfect!

Over complicated - tick
Entertaining - tick
Red and white flags - tick
Demonstrates a plan - tick
Useful to the players - thick

You might be on to something RR!
