Thought it might be cool if we had a place where we can discuss movies we've seen or really liked.

Saw 2 movies in the last day or so, both very good.

Citizen Kane ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033467/ )
Believe it or not I had never seen this until last night. It's about a publishing tycoon who dies, and slowly the story of his life is retold by the various people who knew him when he was alive. A lot of people think this is the best film ever made. I thought it was amazing, particularly the ending. I'm not normally one for older movies (this one was made in 1941), but if you like film you should definitely check it out!

Bloody Sunday ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280491/ )
About the massacre of Irish civil rights protesters by British troops in 1972 (obviously). I thought this was a very powerful film, although I think this is due to the nature of the event rather than the skill of the film-maker. In this way it kind of reminds me of United 93, which retold the story of the passengers who fought back against the hijackers of their plane 9/11, which eventually crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania and killed everybody on board. The massacre was just such a tragedy. Definitely worth seeing IMO.

Great idea dorito.

******SPOILERS********

In any list of the best films of all time Citizen Kane is top or very near the top.

Spoiler
At the very end as he dies he whispers the name `rosebud` I wonder if you guessed the meaning.

Do you like westerns if so my favourite three are Shane,High Noon and The Searchers.

Contemplating going to see tinker taylor soldier spy, seen the original a few times. Was also a big fan of the 39 steps and have seen the remakes since. Cant for the love of me remember his name but the bloke that was with Jasper Carrot, prefered that one.

More into the thrillers and horror, adventure, historical

Stephen King is one of my all time greats with Alfred Hitchcock

The Irish Magician

Sorry, mate, just added the spoiler thing in case anybody hasn't seen it! I picked up the ending; in a way it sort of summarised the whole movie, this poor man who was just searching for happiness and love despite having everything in the world.

There's a couple more for my list! I have to get through the other ones you gave me first. Casablanca next!
